QUALITY PIONEERS
It's 1952. Angela Cevenini already had in her resume the useful experiences of working as a manager secretary in a multinational company and a long period spent in London in an import-export society when, as she came back to Italy, she joined the mechanical factory her father started in the after-war years.
Those were the years of the birth of the very first needs for quality, due to new materials and production methods coming in from the United States.
With astonishing foreseeing, daring and perseverance (especially when we think how it is hard for a woman to be accepted in the working world) Angela started importing innovative technical products, among which were the first liquid penetrants ever used in Italy.
A brief anecdotic will give you an idea of those pioneer years.
Angela used to say that, after managing to get an appointment in a big factory, and personally showing how liquid penetrants were able to find defects with clear red indications on the sample, the engineers sent for the boss to show him the results.
But to her greatest astonishment, a minute later she found herself at the door with the words: "Miss, of course we do not want to show defects! When you called on the phone, we thought you were coming to present a way to hide them."
The Angela Cevenini Award, a tribute to her donation to The Italian Welding Institute, is awarded every year to the best student of their ndt courses.

OUR MISSION
In 1972 Maurizio Cevenini joined NDT Italiana, continuing and widening the non destructive testing activity, importing new products to meet the needs of a rising nuclear industry, that in those years were building the first power stations; of the aerospace industry, supporting Italian companies in the development of their own aircrafts; of the petrochemical and energy industry, the foundry and welding activities, with rising needs for quality and export.The values that had brought to the 1952 fundation, giving answers to the companies' quality needs, still remains 2002 NDT Italiana's mission, and it is pictured in the cover page of our new catalogue with the words "We turn defects into solutions" and a flower as background representing care for the people and the environment.

OUR ASSETS
Ndt Italiana is today an established industrial presence, whose headquarters are situated just north of Milan on an area of 2500 square meters of which 1300 are devoted to production and goods stocking.
The company organisational chart is complete: Technical Service and Commercial Service offices are supported by a Chemical and an Electronic Laboratory, where we test new products and technologies and do maintenance for the customers' satisfaction.

OUR PLANS
NDT Italiana covers with qualified products all the main techniques: Liquid Penetrants, Magnetic particle inspection, Ultraviolet Lamps, Ultrasonics, Eddy Current, X-ray, Leak detection, Visual inspection, Alloy identification.The Liquid Penetrants sector, though being NDT Italiana's oldest, is still nowadays ever changing. Besides the traditional penetrants MIL-AMS-QPL Certified, a new range of water-based penetrants have recently been introduced to the market, both red and fluorescent, that have immediatly been appreciated by the end users for all the advantages bound to the petroleum solvents absence: non-flammable, odourless, non toxic (without the Xn symbol), reduced water treatment costs, cheaper, easily washable, with clear marks of the defects.

Specifically, water-base fluorescents allowed many industries to reach remarkable advantages in terms of two or three times more productivity, and this with just one tenth of washing water to be treated, compared to traditional procedures with petroleum solvents penetrants. All these advantages can be exploited even in existing facilities, just by switching to this new generation of penetrants.

The company's star product is the S 291 Photofluorometer, an instrument for the measurement of the fluorescence of liquid penetrants, entirely designed and manufactured by NDT Italiana and listed as a standard in the famous International Standards ASTM E-1135.

Also in all the other tecniques NDT Italiana offers original solutions:
in Magnetic particle inspection with its Silver Yoke coming in a see-through cover, its brand new "on the balls" Yoke, and fluorescent and "day light" magnetic particles to be diluted in water; in Ultrasonics, besides instruments for flow detection and thickness measurement, with a complete range of water base couplants, which being non toxic and ipo-allergenic are well appreciated by the operators (and their skin!); test blocks for eddy currents, both standard and custom made, and advanced aeronautic instruments; X-ray units, Radioscopy and High quality and reliability Accessories; NDT Italiana has also been the first to introduce portable instruments for alloy identification (P.M.I.) into the Italian market.

Our constant endeavour, the dinamicity and proactivity in offering our customers the newest technical solutions, nowadays more and more important in the competitive international markets, have been and will always be part of the partnership between NDT Italiana and its valued customers.
To properly celebrate its first 50 years, NDT Italiana has forged a silver medal that aims to represent our work together, through some symbols that belong to Italy and to all the workers of the world: The Scala Theatre, the Milan Cathedral, a chimney, a truck and a group of workers.
